What’s the funniest show on radio right now? If your answer was Young Sheldon, pleasantly chaperon yourself off the nearest roof. Did you guess South Park? Maybe 10 years ago, but positively not now. Did you guess Rick and Morty? Then you nailed it.
Rick and Morty is now the best cartoon on radio and it isn’t even close. Between its mind-bending tract lines, mile-a-minute jokes, or gorgeously artistic animation, Rick and Morty is just a step forward of its competitors. Except when it comes to deteriorate length, as they are now only airing 10 episodes per season.
Back in South Park’s heyday, they were airing at slightest 14 episodes per season, so there’s no reason because Rick and Morty can’t follow suit. And according to co-creator Dan Harmon, that change isn’t too distant away, as he says that the only reason 14-episode-long seasons hasn’t happened nonetheless is due to his perfectionism.
via Entertainment Weekly:
“I mostly censure myself for doing 10 instead of 14. I’m still training how to do the show well while catering to the captious in all of us. we would like to consider I’ve schooled adequate from my mistakes in deteriorate 3 that we could really do 14 now, but then we have to say, “Yeah but you’re the man who says we can do 14 who incited out to be wrong so we’re not listening to you now.”
“The good healthy way to proceed this is we wish to infer it with the first 10 of deteriorate 4 — infer it to ourselves, to production, to the network — that it’s so easy that we’ll earn additional episodes. Because we never got this distant [working on NBC’s] Community. we felt detached in deteriorate 3 of Community and got fired in deteriorate 4. Now I’m about to do deteriorate 4 of Rick and Morty and wish to infer that I’ve grown.”
“My obsessiveness is an rivalry that needs to be fought … And that ‘Purge’ part is fun and great. we can feel it’s “good enough” quality. we consider the assembly would opinion unanimously for the thought of 14 episodes instead of 10 on the condition that 4 of them would be [‘Purge Planet’ level] episodes.”
Given that Rick and Morty at its misfortune is still distant higher then many comedy shows at their best, churning out some-more episodes creates clarity for both the creators and the advertisers. Unfortunately, we may not get those new episodes until 2019.
