The CDC reports that sexually-transmitted diseases in the U. S. are at an all-time high. Over two million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis were reported last year according to the annual Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance Report.
Jonathan Mermin, a executive at the CDC, told the press that “Increases in STDs are a transparent warning of a flourishing threat” that’s “outpacing the ability to respond.”
Well, how could this have happened? I’m certain it has zero to do with unconstrained messages from government, media, and schools that infrequent sex is normal and healthy? Or that a tablet or a condom creates sex safe? Or the normalizing of homosexuality and other forms of passionate brokenness?
Ideas matters, folks! They have consequences, and bad ideas have victims. Our open health calamity is the outcome of flouting God’s pattern for the bodies. His manners don’t keep us from being happy, they help us align to reality. Ignoring God’s pattern will always outcome in tragedy.
