The Point: Pray for Your Pastor

Pray for your pastor. For the Colson Center, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

In the old days, a couple confronting matrimony difficulty talked to their pastor. Then, that changed to the matrimony counselor. Today, as my priest tells me, he’s now third in line…behind the advisor and the attorney.

According to a Gallup poll, preaching arrange series 9 on the list of professionals Americans trust the most: behind nurses, military officers, class school teachers, medical doctors, pharmacists, police officers, day-care providers, and judges.

Only 25 percent of non-Christians perspective preaching as reliable and trustworthy. And only 48 percent of Christians perspective them that way!

There are many reasons for this, but as Bill Brown, conduct of the Colson Fellows Program told me: “Pastors are held to a aloft customary … If they tumble into impiety . . . while there is redemption and restoration, they will be noted by it for the rest of their lives . . . That’s because we offer with fear and trembling.”

Just another reason because we should urge for the pastors.
