On Tuesday, the House of Representatives upheld a check that would outlaw termination after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Now the check heads to the Senate.
When Republicans prisoner both houses of Congress and the White House, pro-lifers could suppose some poignant advances, like the de-funding of Planned Parenthood. That hasn’t happened. In fact, not much else has happened either, until Tuesday.
It’s not a ideal bill, as it still allows abortions of trusting children in cases of rape or incest. But it is a step in the right instruction and will save many lives.
In the end, as Alabama Rep. Martha Roby pronounced on the House floor, “So mostly we get held up in the policies of this issue and we forget that these are babies, for integrity sake. They feel pain and we need to strengthen them.”
