Matt Lauer was reportedly fired as “Today” horde after an NBC staffer complained he sexually assaulted her during the Rio Olympics.
The lady reported her censure Tuesday to NBC News, whose executives soon fired Lauer, and sources revealed details about the allegations to the New York Post‘s Page Six.
“An NBC staffer come brazen with a explain that Matt sexually assaulted her at the Olympics,” one source said. “There have been rumors about Matt having affairs with subordinates at NBC for years, but those were believed to be consensual. This occurrence in Rio was not.”
Another source told Page Six that NBC News authority Andy Lack motionless to fire Lauer late Tuesday, and it was announced on air by “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie.
Lauer’s banishment came as rumors swirled that other media outlets were scheming to report on his purported passionate misconduct.
The former anchor’s wife filed for divorce in 2006, citing “cruel and inhumane” behavior, but the filing was cold a month after after the couple reached a private agreement.
President Donald Trump has also responded to the firing in his own way.
