After an attack on Feb 7 by the United States military against Syrian “pro-regime forces,” reports fast emerged that the U.S. had killed a series of Russians embedded with the Syrian forces. While the Russian supervision remained silent, the U.S. shortly announced that it had indeed killed “scores” of Russians in that air raid. Later, Russia reliable that Russian “civilians” had been killed but that no Russian soldiers died. Russia put those numbers at around 5 while the United States settled a few dozen. Western mainstream media reports put the series at over a hundred.
Then, on Feb 15, another occurrence took place where 15 Russians died in an apparent blast outward a weapons repository run by a Russian constrictive company. The blast itself is suspicious, quite when taken in the context of the prior killing of Russians in Syria by the U.S. military.
There is no doubt that the U.S. killed the Russians on Feb 7. However, there are a series of questions that arise out of both incidents, generally the first.
Who Are The Russians?
The Russians who were killed in both incidents in Syria are allegedly partial of Wagner Group, a Russian constrictive organisation formed in Hong Kong. Although readers should practice counsel when examining information constructed by CNN, the news group claims that Wagner has no open offices in Russia. Both CNN and FOX report that Wagner has anywhere from hundreds to thousands of contractors handling in Syria at this moment. The organisation is also believed to have been active in eastern Ukraine, ancillary separatists who have been fighting Western-backed Nazi forces.
Why Are They There?
As was the case in eastern Ukraine, Russia needs to muster fighters to Syria that will assist Syrian military forces and associated militias on the belligerent but it needs to do so covertly. After all, Russia announced some time ago that it was sketch down its military participation in Syria as a outcome of many of its goals having been achieved. While Russia did draw down a series of its military forces, private contractors can also be used to seaside up Syrian forces, help with logistics, and control other operations that the Russian military would rather not be publicly concerned with. As cover, the contractors are technically on the payroll of the Syrian supervision and so seem as if it is simply a private Russian organisation enchanting in business with the Syrian government.
While private military constrictive with the Syrian supervision is possible, it is much some-more likely that the Russian military contractors are handling in Syria and Ukraine for the same purpose – to yield the Russian supervision with boots on the belligerent as good as trustworthy deniability (such as being means to state that Russia has no troops on the belligerent in Ukraine). Russia is therefore means to control certain operations unofficially and publicly draw down its forces while progressing boots on the ground.
Is The U.S. Killing Russians Intentionally?
Obviously, a approach military attack against Russian troops would create an impossibly dangerous general situation. Putin would be forced to respond to those attacks either he wanted to or not simply by trait of open outrage, domestic pressure, and to strengthen the notice of Russian strength in the eyes of the world. If the United States were to play the occurrence as if it were an accident, maybe Russia could equivocate physically responding. However, if the U.S. were to acknowledge conscious targeting, there is little doubt that some form of approach military fight between the two powers would take place as a result.
Unfortunately, it is probable that the United States has gamble on the fact that the trustworthy deniability aspect also precludes Russia from the compulsory response that would have resulted if the attacks had killed Russian soldiers. Russia is not going to go to fight over private contractors and the United States knows this. Killing Russian contractors then becomes a way to accurate a cost against Russia for its support of the Syrian supervision but risking World War Three to the border it would have finished otherwise. The U.S. would then force Russia to start conducting operations with unchanging forces or stop conducting operations altogether. Likewise, at a some-more evident and uncomplicated level, it is means to physically interrupt any ongoing operations undertaken by the contractors.
Killing Russians on the belligerent is also a way to plan strength in the same perverted way the U.S. has been doing all along. In other words, the U.S. can explain to the universe that it is so absolute that it can enter Syria, occupy it, and kill Russians (presented to the universe as soldiers all the while claiming stupidity of their presence) and that Russia is too fearful and/or diseased to do anything about it. Of course, this is not the reality of the conditions but the notice of it has effects both at home and abroad that outcome in vigour on the Russian government, many particularly its president.

While there is no approach justification to advise that the United States is intentionally targeting Russians in Syria, the timing of both incidents is tough to ignore. Given that Russia has thwarted many of America’s plans for Syria, it is transparent that the United States wants to make Russia compensate a cost for its support of the Syrian government, whatever form that cost may be, i.e. political, military, or economic. Regardless, the bombing and killing of Russian contractors in Syria is a dangerous new escalation on the partial of the United States whose very participation in Syria is both illegal and immoral.
