Florida Man Accidentally Shoots Himself During Police Pursuit

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Deputies reserved to the Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) arrested a St. Petersburg man for Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Grand Theft of a Firearm.

The occurrence began in the area of 26th Avenue South and 13th Street South where the suspect’s car was celebrated by VCTF members to be handling in a forward manner.

At about 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov 29, 2017, Violent Crimes Task Force Members (VCTF) members celebrated a black 2011 Honda Accord in the area of 26th Avenue South and 13th Street South, handling in a forward manner. The car was seen pushing by residential neighborhoods at a high rate of speed, with the headlights off, and not interlude for stop signs or a traffic light.

Due to the car being celebrated handling in a forward manner, VCTF members successfully deployed a tire-deflation device.

VCTF members then attempted to control a traffic stop on the suspect’s car in the area of 22nd Avenue South and 34th Street South, when the car fled at a high rate of speed.

Without initiating a car pursuit, a VCTF member conducting notice celebrated a splendid peep and listened a sound identical to a gunshot from inside the vehicle. The VCTF member then saw the motorist drop what seemed to be a handgun, out of the vehicle.

VCTF members were means to successfully trigger a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) on the Honda, at about 22nd Avenue South and 22nd Street South, and the motorist of the think car was taken into custody.

The motorist of the car was identified as 23-year-old Matthew Lukine Brown.

Deputies dynamic that while Brown was attempting to drop the handgun, he incidentally shot himself in the right thigh. VCTF members were means to redeem the rejected handgun and schooled the firearm was formerly reported stolen from a car in the city of Largo. Largo Police Department was told that the firearm was recovered.

Brown was ecstatic to Bayfront Hospital with non-life melancholy injuries. Brown was expelled after diagnosis and was ecstatic to the Pinellas County Jail. Brown was charged and cited with Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Grand Theft of a Firearm.
